Docents Needed
for State Park Programs
Morro Bay, CA – If you have ever
thought about becoming a volunteer for California
State Parks, your assistance is needed in
the Coastal Sector of San Luis Obispo Coast
District. This area includes Morro Bay State
Park with the Museum of Natural History,
Montana de Oro with its Spooner Ranch House,
and Pismo Beach with the monarch butterfly
grove. Currently our greatest need is for
operating the front desk at the Museum of
Natural History, and there will be openings
for persons to lead school programs. However,
if these aren’t your interests, we
also have a need for gardeners, persons
to do exhibit planning and repair, and those
who wish to conduct adult and family walks
and provide information to park and museum
visitors. Docent programs are joint efforts
between California State Parks and the Central
Coast Natural History Association.
Who are we looking for? Retired persons,
college students, and working people who
desire to expand their horizons and put
their life experience to work. If this is
you, and you want to volunteer your time
and interests to California State Parks,
please call Rouvaishyana, Manager, Museum
of Natural History (805) 772-2694 ext. 105
or Carolyn Frank, Docent Training Coordinator
at (805) 528-8578. We’ll give you
more specific information, and start you
on your way to being a Docent. For more
information about the Central Coast Natural
History Association, visit www.ccnha.com.
Applications are also available at the above
listed park sites.
