California
State Parks to Renovate Morro Bay State Park
Campground
Morro Bay, CA - After 25 years
there will be a complete renovation of the
Morro Bay State Park Campground by California
State Parks. This project has been in the
planning stages for 2 years, and now is
ready to start. California State Parks will
be removing trees at Morro Bay State Park
as part of a campground renovation project.
The work will begin on Thursday, October
31, 2002 and will continue through February
2003.
Beginning in February 2003 the Morro Bay
State Park Campground will be closed for
nine months. During this period the campground
renovation project will upgrade existing
facilities in the park including campsites,
restrooms, upgraded park entrance, underground
facilities, and paving of campsite turnouts.
Also, the renovation project will realign
and develop the interior of the campground
to provide improved access for campground
users.
As California State Parks continues to
work with the City of Morro Bay during this
project, the city does not see any direct
economic impact because of the campground
closure.
