There's a lot to learn while camping or visiting your favorite California State Park. Join the Park staff of San Simeon and learn about the wonders of our natural world.


Campfire Programs

Meet at the campfire center in San Simeon Creek Campground. Dress warmly and bring a flashlight to help guide you back to camp after the program.

SUNDAY, AUGUST 10:
8:15 PM	MONTEREY BAY MARINE SANCTUARY-Join Biologist Michelle Roest and learn about the nation's largest marine sanctuary.
FRIDAY, AUGUST 15:
8:15 PM	ELEPHANT SEALS - Join Docent, Carol Bean from "Friends of the Elephant "Seals, for an evening full of interesting facts about these magnificent mammals.
SATURDAY, AUGUST 16:
8:00 PM	GRAY WHALES - Come learn about the whales that frequent Our coastline.

Junior Rangers Programs

Junior Rangers is just for kids ages 7 to 12.
Children ages 4 to 6 "Cubs" must be accompanied by an adult.

TUESDAY, AUGUST 12:
10:00 AM	JR RANGERS- SCAVENGER HUNT-Meet Karen, the Campground Host, at the campfire center to pick up a self guided scavenger hunt sheet.
THURSDAY, AUGUST 14:
9:30 AM 10:30 AM	"CUBS": PLANTS - make leaf prints. JR RANGERS: PLANTS- Learn about the world of plants and make your very own bookmark.
FRIDAY, AUGUST 15:
10:00 AM	JR RANGERS AND "CUBS" - BIRDS Learn about the birds that live in the park. Jr. Rangers will take a bird watching hike from 10:30 - 11:15. wear hiking shoes and bring binoculars if you have them.
SATURDAY, AUGUST 16:
9:30 AM 10:30 AM	"CUBS" - ECOLOGY JR RANGERS - ECOLOGY- study our home (earth) and learn about how you can help protect our wonderful planet.
SUNDAY, AUGUST 17:
10:00 AM	JR. RANGERS, "CUBS, FAMILY AND FRIENDS: MAKE ANIMAL TRACKS - a program for everyone.
MONDAY, AUGUST 18:
10:00 AM	JR. RANGERS - CAMPING SAFETY: learn about fire safety and how to safely roast marshmallows.
