Special Events

The hilltop estate may be reserved for special events when it is not in conflict with our regularly scheduled tours. Every special event at the Castle must include an educational or interpretive element which means that every event must have a tour associated with it. All events are held outdoors on one of the Castle’s many picturesque terraces.

Special events fall into one of two categories:

  • Parties of 1 – 50 people with the event lasting no longer than 3 hours.
  • Parties of 51 – 250 people or events lasting longer than 3 hours.

Pricing

Pricing for a special event for 1 – 50 people that is no longer than 3 hours is $10,000, plus a $1,000 non-refundable deposit, plus a $100 non-refundable fee to schedule the event, plus the staff reimbursement cost. For events for 51 – 250 people, or for events lasting longer than 3 hours, the special use fee for the event is $20,000, plus a $2,000 non-refundable deposit, plus a $100 non-refundable fee to schedule the event, plus the staff reimbursement cost.

Staff costs include personnel costs for guides, security, maintenance, buses and any other staff personnel that are required to successfully accomplish your event. Catering costs would be in addition to these costs. Insurance for up to one million dollars per occurrence is also required.

Reservations

Reservations must be made at least 16 weeks in advance.

Fundraising

Fundraisers are not allowed with the exception of those conducted by or benefiting our nonprofit cooperating association, Friends of Hearst Castle. Private parties are permissible. For more information call.
