Big Sur, CA: Limekiln State Park will reopen to the public effective July 2, 2010. Limekiln State Park was closed after a wildland fire damaged the park in 2008. The park is open on a first come first serve basis. The campsites located in the redwood area of the campground are available for tent campers and other recreational vehicles less then 24 feet in length. Limekiln State Park has limited day-use parking available. The Limekiln trail and the Hare trail are open for hiking.
Limekiln State Park is located 56 miles south of Carmel, off Highway One; two miles south of Lucia. The park features breathtaking views of the Big Sur Coast, the beauty of the redwoods, the rugged coast and the cultural history of limekilns.
